Becoming prominent in the US during the nineteenth century, the belief that dead loved ones could be communicated with by a psychic medium, led to the continued belief in psychic powers. There have been several famous American psychics who have proven their psychic gifts and abilities since then, including Edgar Cayce, Jeane Dixon, Sylvia Browne, Gary Spivey, and John Edward. A 2005 Gallup Poll found that 41% of the people polled believed in ESP and 26% in clairvoyance. These numbers continue to grow, with half of the millennial generation believing in Astrology and Tarot Card readings.
